Lovely shot of engineering in action; those cranes are built to take 20 tons of weight when upright, but on its side the whole arm crumples under its own weight like it’s made of jelly. Beautiful
Curious as to how long it takes to disassemble a crane in case of bad weather—because surely they had lots of warning but I’m no expert in whether they had enough time to get it out of harms way or not.
Too cheap to disassemble. Wind is likely a major factor in most crane topples. No excuse for this. A category 2 hurricane with 100 kmh wind plus wind gusted to 120 plus kmh …is not a light breeze.

Well that’s a bitch
I’ve been wondering where all the footage from the damage of Dorian is but haven’t seen much. This actually might be the first I’ve seen.
Why does it turn orange like that?
I thought this was the new Russian Spider on the buildings at night!
Nothing survived
Except for the chocolate milk
SO MUCH CHOCOLATE MILK

Hey this is my city!!! The owners of this crane had weeks notice of this weather, no regard for human safety.
I was just looking at the a picture of this wondering what it would of of looked like falling. This has answered that, thank you OP.
Fun fact: in sixth grade our school was doing renovations and the industrial crane fell crushing the kitchen and most of the cafeteria.
This was right beside our apartment, and on the other side a huge tree fell down the road including the land that covered the roots.
Dang. They need to be easier to take down. It’s not like they didn’t have any warning… I sharpied Dorian right into Halifax a month ago.

Going to wait now for the AVE analyst of why it collapsed.

I hope there was no man in it
Looks expensive

Seeing it wrap around that building gave me a semi.
For those wondering, the date format OP is using puts the day before the month.
I was about to comment about how confusing the date was… then I remembered not everyone writes month/day/year like me. “DoRiAn WaSnT iN jULy”
Reminds me of how I crash in bed after a double shift.
I’ve seen the picture of that. Never expected the video
cranes are pussies
Was anyone hurt or killed?
Like a drunk guy falling on a garbage bin. 10/10
It’s really wild seeing steel bend like that. The arm turned into a limp noodle.
What part of Alabama is that again?
It’s a broken crane on a Halifax pier
Just sharpie it back up. NO PROBLEM! VERY GOOD!
But is Alabama ok?
Holy shit. This is where I live!! Its crazy here right now. Almost entire province of NS has no power. I cant believe this made it on here!

Crane: “I just want to hug this building”
TIL Canada has to worry aboot hurricanes too
This video was [in the first thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/CatastrophicFailure/comments/d114b3/september_07_2019_hurricane_dorian_hits_downtown/ezfzjc3/) on this accident; the OP there just led with a picture as the post, and linked to the original video (better quality).
Who’s the idiot who left that up and didn’t take the necessary hurricane precautions!
I live in Florida and we were completely missed, so it’s kind of surreal to find out that it’s now fucking up Canada
I imagine the counter weights left a dingy on whatever they landed on.
Nice catch for the videographer.
