People as far as North California have felt the rumblings and heard some earthquake booms:

Even Oklahoma seismometers reported the rattling:

According to USGS, the area around the Mw6.4 Nevada EQ will continue to experience more earthquakes than usual. Some may be larger, but many smaller. And remember to always Drop, Cover, and Hold on if you feel shaking.

But do you realize we are close to Area 51?

Here some other reports on the USGS website:

Coarsegold ca (245.7 km SW from epicenter) I saw the water shaking in a bottle then I felt shaking and my house made a noise.

Sacramento ca (307 km W from epicenter) Not felt; I hear a noise like a prolonged rattling inside the house.

Citrus Heights, CA (303.3 km WNW from epicenter) Woke from sleep suddenly to bed vibrating and wind chimes in room gently swaying and making noise

(322.5 km SE from epicenter) Woke me up. Lamps swinging, creaks, lasted about 30 seconds. 4 am.

Sacramento (10.4 km SW from epicenter) Whole house felt like it was swaying, dogs woke up, indoor windchime clanked.

Modesto, Ca. (283.9 km W from epicenter) The house was shaking for about 4-5 seconds and making a squeaky structural movement noise. It sounded like a wave. Started slow in movement, increased and then decreased and went away gradually.

Tr (241.8 km NW from epicenter) I was awake and heard a rolling noise and knew it was an earthquake I have said for the last week we are going to have a big quake coming I can alwYs predict them with in a few days of when I say it’s my 6th sense

There are currentl no reports of strong damage, injuries or deaths. Get prepared and be ready for the next Big One. More earthquake news on Strange Sounds and Steve Quayle. [Seismo, USGS]

  1. My predictions is come through no place is safe place indeed.
Get out of cities that people like sardine has been squash together. Time is against us indeed. Leave your cities for the places that you have less people and can save money with buying foods.
The May 15, 2020 M 6.5 earthquake 56 km west f Tonopah, Nevada, occurred as the result of strike slip faulting in the shallow crust of the North America plate. Preliminary focal mechanism solutions for the event, which describe the style of faulting in an earthquake, indicate slip likely occurred on a steeply dipping fault striking either east-west (left-lateral) or north-south (right-lateral). This earthquake occurred within the Walker Lane, an active zone of seismicity roughly aligned with the California-Nevada border. Tectonically, the Walker Lane accommodates up to 25% of the North America:Pacific Plate motion, with the remainder mostly accommodated on the San Andreas fault system.

About two dozen M5+ earthquakes have occurred within 100 km of this event over the past 50 years, mostly to the west and south. Two M6+ events have occurred over the same region in the past century – a M 6.5 earthquake 40 km to the northwest in January 1934, and a M 6.8 event 50 km to the north in December 1932. Both of these earthquakes caused severe local shaking (MMI VIII); the 1932 earthquake is documented to have caused damage in the sparsely populated surrounding region. As of 12pm UTC, 6 M4+ aftershocks have occurred since the M 6.5 earthquake, extending over a region about 30 km to the west of the mainshock.

  2. A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 followed by more than 50 aftershocks rocks a remote, sparsely populated area of Nevada close to Area 51: The temblor is the 5th major quake of May and the 43rd of 2020
