Neighbors in Henrico’s west end are demanding answers after hearing loud “booms” and racket overnight probably related to a major gas line replacement project along Pemberton Road, between Broad Street and Three Chopt Road and which was still going on at 2 a.m. Monday night. Floods of calls bombarded Henrico County and Richmond City officials. The area is notorious for gas line problems, and the old pipes need to be replaced. However, not during everybody is sleeping! Richmond city officials said construction will now only happen during the day. It is scheduled for the next couple of weeks.
Here some comments of very angry neighbors:
“Jackhammer…just steady jackhammer on the road, out in front of the neighborhood.”
“You could hear the gas like thumping out of the hole in the road.”
“We need our sleep, just like you do. I said, ‘What if the tables were turned, and you’re trying to get your rest, and you got to get up and go to work the next day?'”
“I did hear a lot of jack-hammering and drilling. I felt like I was at the dentist.”
Well hope the noise level is going to sink for you guys!
