Oil geyser spills 10,000 gallons of crude oil in Atwater Village in Los Angeles

About 10,000 gallons of crude oil spilled over a large area of Atwater Village Thursday, leaving two hospitalized, streets flooded and businesses closed. By Thursday afternoon, cleanup was expected to take another 24 hours.

Approximately 10,000 gallons of crude oil spilled over a half-mile area after an above-ground oil line broke around 12:15 a.m. near 5175 W. San Fernando Road on Thursday, May 15, 2014.
