The sky was on fire on September 23, 2014 (September 24, 2014 UT time) as 4 fireballs were reported disintegrating over the eastern part of the USA.
As reported by the American Meteor Society, the balls of fire were reported at different times in different regions. The AMS classified them as large unique fireball events.
The first meteor was seen at approximately 1:11 local time (EDT) in FL and GA. Over 77 witnesses from MI, IL, OH, IN, ON WI, PA, NY and KY reported a bright fireball over Michigan around 21:55 local time. 29 witnesses from TN, AR, AL, MS, MO and KY reported seeing a disintegrating fireball over Tennessee at approximately 20:30 local time. Finally, 42 witnesses in CT, PA, NY, NJ, MA and MD reported seeing a rapid and bright fireball in North Easter Pennsylvania near 20:47 local time.
