What is the mystery behind the boiling water in the Gulf of Naples?

Is this a strong outflow of volcanic gases from the seabed showing that Vesuvius is reawakening? Or what?

Some say it was triggered by volcanic activities. However, officials – the most probable origin of this mystery – say it’s a rupture of a sewer that is located on the bottom of the sea (San Giovanni in Teduccio).
