Solar wind sparks aurora storm around the Arctic Circle

There is an aurora storm going on right now as a high-speed solar wind stream is buffeting Earth’s magnetic field.

This geomagnetic storm is sparking bright auroras around the Arctic Circle as shown by the amazing images by Viktor Kulikov over Naryan-Mar, Russia:
