Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Oriental, Philippines erupted spewing ash as high as 1.5 kilometers on Tuesday, March 29, 2016.
The event was accompanied by a booming sound.
The eruption occurred at 6:20 p.m. and lasted for 12 minutes and covered with ash the city of Bago, Negros Occidental.
Kanlaon Volcano remains at Alert Level 1 meaning that the volcano is in a period of current unrest.
However, it is strictly prohibited to enter the 4-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) around the volcano. And, pilots should avoid flying near the volcano’s summit, as ash from sudden eruptions can be hazardous.
Ashfall were reported in Sitio Guintubdan, Barangay Ara-al, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
Mt. Kanlaon is one of the most active volcanoes in the Philippines.
