These stunning images show the moment the Moon created a total eclipse of the Sun in Chile and Argentina on February 26, 2017.
The impressive solar eclipse left a ‘Ring of Fire’ around the Sun, as normal sunlight was blocked out.
The eclipse began at 12.10 GMT and reached its maximum point at 14.58 GMT. It was finished at 17.35 GMT.
The eclipse was first visible in Chile, than over Argentina’s Patagonia region, across the South Atlantic Ocean and eventually in Angola. It was last visible above the border of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo at sunset.
The annular solar eclipse was only visible in parts of South America and Africa.
This is the first of two solar eclipses happening in 2017, the next is due to be seen over the USA on August 21.
