Fireball explodes in loud boom over Texas

1

A bright fireball was reported flying over an area between Abilene to Snyder, Texas on February 26, 2017 at around 9 p.m.

And the meteor suddenly disintegrated in a loud boom!

Did you also see the bright fireball exploding in a loud boom? People around Snyder, Texas reported hearing a boom like that of a transformer failing or a sonic boom that a jet might create.

According to witnesses, something fell from the sky and got close enough to the ground that the sonic boom it created was audible to people over several miles.

There have been no reentries in the recent days, so this glowing object in the Texan night sky was most probably a space rock that fell into our atmosphere.

However, we are not in a “classic” meteor shower window.
