Several giant sinkholes are frightening residents of Khutsong, South Africa.
The gaping holes are growing up. One has already swallowed a house… Several homes have been evacuated. Other residents have fled their homes after at least 16 other sinkholes were found in the area.
The ground beneath the homes of residents on the West Rand of Johannesburg is in danger of swallowing them all. A house fell into a sinkhole in Khutsong in the early hours of March 5, 2017. Fortunately no one was home at the time.
At least 16 other sinkholes have been discovered in the middle of houses in the same area. Houses have been evacuated and several residents have already been moved to emergency housing. Others are running away.
It seems that the crater problem isn’t new in the region, but again, nobody has made anything to stop the ground from collapsing!
