Interstellar Comet Found?
Comet 2017 U1 was discovered a few days ago using the PANSTARRS telescope and it may be the first clear case of interstellar planet!
This new comet, C/2017 U1, discovered by the PanSTARRS survey on October 17, 2017, is quite faint and we would not talk about it, if it hadn’t something very special. Further observations are needed to confirm but “this object may be the first clear case of an interstellar comet, so likely from outside the Solar System” according to the Minor Planet Center.
So this interstellar comet doesn’t come from the Oort cloud but from farther away? Hmmm.
