A dangerous and shallow M6.5 earthquake hit Costa Rica, at 02:28 UTC. The epicenter was situated at a depth of 20 km (12.3 mi) and only 16 km (9.9 mi) from Jaco and 63 km (39.2) from San Jose, the capital city. Subterranean tremors were felt in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama. This is the second dangerous quake within 8 hours, after a strong and shallow M7.2 earthquake killed at least 207 and wounded thousands at the Iran-Iraq border on November 12, 2017. Local media have already announced two dead – both heart attacks – and some landslides on the highway connecting the village of Jaco with San Jose, the capital city.
