A mysterious underground fire, where locals come to boil water every morning and evening, is burning since 59 years in China.
This small square of land measuring some four square meters is composed of seven or eight tongues of flames burning all year round, rain or snow.
Several large underground fires are currently burning around the world. Now, in this small village of China, locals boil up water on the flames within five minutes, every day and every night… But nobody knows why this underground fire is on:
They don’t need firewood, they don’t need to carry back bundles of firewood. They have this mysterious fire coming from underground.
The flames are immortal. Even if water is poured on them, they will ignite again within three minutes. Baffling!
The fire started 59 years ago from a natural gas well that an oil exploitation team drilled back in 1958. But the well was left unexplored because of scarce and scattered natural gas reserves.
