Trinity Quakes: 3 strong M6.1 earthquakes hit the Royalty Islands, Vanuatu and Wallis and Futuna in 14 hours… Signs or simply coincidence?

The first M6.1 quake hit southeast of the Loyalty Islands on February 17, 2021 at 22:50 (UTC). This is probably another strong aftershock of the powerful earthquake series that rattled the same islands a week ago.

About seven hours later, on February 18, 2021 at 06:38 (UTC) the second shallow M6.1 jolt struck 135 km SSW of Port-Vila, Vanuatu.

Finally, at 15:31 (UTC), the last M6.1 rattled 160 km ESE of Alo, Wallis and Futuna.

The 3 earthquakes have the same magnitude: M6.1. They also form an almost perfect triangle (see map above). So, the number 3, a triangle, same magnitude. Are these signs or just coincidence?

  1. Well, did a check, and no tsunami warning. At least people won’t be swept up, and washed out to sea, or impaled on a tree branch?
