But the following images are ‘real’ eerie photos of Mount Ontake unexpected volcanic eruption!
Mount Ontake started erupting without warning at lunchtime on Friday spewing out small rock and ash over a two-mile wide area.
The massive explosion of ash and poison gas (pyroclastic flow) has injured many hikers, 30 of which have been found in a state of ‘cardiac arrest’ and are presumed dead.
They are Japan’s first deaths from volcanic eruption since 1991, when 43 people died at Mount Unzen. Watch this insane video of the eruption as filmed by hikers.
Rescue efforts continued today with army helicopters used to airlift survivors from the mountain side.
The volcano is 230km west of Tokyo but has not yet caused any disruption to flights in and out of the city.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has instructed the military to rescue the hikers from the area.
Rescue efforts have now been called off due to rising levels of toxic gas near summit and approaching nightfall.
Although terrifying, these landscape photos of Mount Ontake volcanic eruption are just mesmerizing. And as you may have understood it: Such natural disasters can occur unexpectedly and suddenly at any time! So be prepared and take care!
