Deep in the Xochimilco canals, not far from the historic city center of Mexico City, there’s a small island with a strange and dark history.
This weird place is called the Island of Dolls. Watch the creepy pictures and the video below!
The story tells that three young girls were playing on the island when one of them drowned.

Soon after, a man named Don Julian Santana Barrera moved to the island and began hanging dolls in the trees to appease the girl’s spirit.

He lived alone on the island for many decades until in 2001 he was found dead at the same spot where the little girl died.

Now the island looks like something out of a Rob Zombie movie, with hundreds of dolls with missing limbs and empty eye sockets hanging in the trees.

Even though tourists are allowed to visit the island, most locals won’t take people there, especially not at night when it’s believed that the ghost of Don and the little girl inhabit the dolls.
