Strange and unexplained sounds and broadcasts recorded around the world

We know this because occasionally somebody with a shortwave radio, or a special antenna or even a common household television, will capture one of these mystery signals and suddenly start broadcasting utter insanity.

Here I present five of these unexplained signals… And some will surely impress you!

1. UVB-76

2. Preschool Show Hijacked by Porn

One day in 2007, in one cozy New Jersey town, Handy Manny suddenly looked rather real, and Handy Manny got a bit too handy with a lady. Handy Manny had been interrupted by hardcore pornography for the Comcast viewers in Lincroft, New Jersey. Comcast vowed to get to the bottom of it and make sure it never happened again. And it didn’t, until Super Bowl 2009. And again, it was Comcast. Probably a prank, what do you mean?

3. The Max Headroom Broadcast Intrusion

On a late-November evening in 1987, two Chicago television stations were victims of a broadcast signal intrusion. After a brief intrusion during the sports report on WGN’s 9:00 news, a later broadcast on channel 11 – WTTW – of the Doctor Who episode “Horror of Fang Rock” was interrupted by a man wearing a Max Headroom mask. The crazed person uttered mostly gibberish, crudely slammed the Chicago Tribune and its subsidiaries (WGN being one of them), and finally dropped his pants and was spanked by what appears to be a child with a flyswatter. 90-seconds later, the program returned to normal. To this day, he has never been caught.

4. The Backward Music Station

The Backwards Music Station was found on various frequencies on the short wave band until about 2004 with the transmissions apparently coming from both the United States and in England. There are debates whether the station is some complex form of communication known as LINCOMPEX or whether it’s simply feedback from Naval transmitters. Despite the debate, the sounds are still rather unearthly.

5. The Wow! Signal

This broadcast rivals or even surpasses the Backward Music Station in mysteriousness. It is so mysterious, in fact, they were forced to go with this ridiculous name. IT IS THE ALIEN SIGNAL PER SE.
