What are these mystery lights spotted in the sky of Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia?
Sabahans abuzz over mystery lights in the sky!
On Tuesday September 2, 2014, mysterious glowing lights streaking across in the night sky baffled Sabahans. And no one was to give a clear explanation on the strange phenomenon.
At around 9.30pm, pillar-shaped lights started moving across the sky over the Putatan area. Even meteorologists were unable to explain these strange elongated lights that appeared for several minutes.
Lanterns? Flares from the Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal in Kimanis? Alien spaceships?
It seems that such lights aren’t so rare along the coast of western Sabah. The phenomenon has already been experienced several times actually. And of course, it is a strange but natural phenomenon.
Yes, these are most probably light pillars or reflections caused by ground-based lights on high clouds. These may indeed be triggered by big flames originating from oil refineries.
