A sinkhole has swallowed the back wheels of a Tempe bus on September 3, 2014.
A water main break is responsible for the large cavity.
Five days ago I was speaking about giant cracks forming and swallowing Arizona’s ground. Well it seems that Tempe’s soil is also pretty unstable. Following a water main break a bus got trapped in a sinkhole this morning. There were no injuries reported on the bus. But it is scary to know that the ground can collapse every minute under your feet. The aerial video shows the scale of the situation. To me, it’s looking like a small inundation is starting. Hopefully, the hole will not grow larger to swallow the whole bus. The experience would then become apocalyptic!
The water main break forced authorities to close the northbound and southbound lanes of McClintock Drive between Don Carlos Avenue and Broadway Road. Are you living around? Do you have other information or news? Some pictures? If yes, send them to me below in the comments. Thank you!
This sinkhole is another proof that mother earth does not like cars at all.
