Is this really a ghost or a giant hovering over the town of Veszprem in Hungary?
You know the answer already… Of course no. But it is a really rare and awesome spectral phenomenon.

The sky phenomenon is called alternatively “The Glory” or the “Spectre of the Brocken.” The ghostly apparition is actually the shadow of Ladanyi Tamas, the photographer, projected onto the mist. It was shot on the morning of August 11.

This optical illusion is created when the observer’s shadow is reflected on droplets or vapour in the air, which scatter the light. As shown in this previous post of mine, glories are most often seen by people on airplanes.
