Did you see this massive fireball meteor flying over your head?
More than 200 people from Maine to Maryland reported seeing “a bright fireball” in the sky at about 6:35 p.m. on Dec. 29, 2014. Watch the dash cam video by Peter Czech in New Jersey.
Did you see the bright fireball? It appears in the upper right side. Here another view:
The American Meteor Society has received reports from residents of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and other states describing meteor sightings around the same time Monday night.
Here the exact capture point if you are interested to hunt for this meteorite:
The brightly-burning meteor was visible for around three seconds and was observed glowing white, blue or green.
The trail and the breaking apart was equally consistent the entire length until it left the atmosphere. But nobody heard a boom.
The high visibility could be partly due to several different reasons – the meteor being sufficiently large, high traveling speed, and shallow impact angle.
In any cases this fireball meteor sightings must have been really amazing!
