Sinkhole apocalypses in Florida, Hawaii and Turkey: Residents alarmed and anxious

Giant sinkholes are opening around the world terrifying inhabitants and baffling geologists.

Within the last few days, multiple sinkhole apocalypses forced the evacuation of several homes in Port Richey in Florida, a giant cavity swallowed a truck on Hawaii, and nine sinkholes are alarming residents of Karapinar in Turkey! Scary!

1. Pasco sinkhole terrifies residents-6 homes evacuated

Six homes were voluntarily evacuated in Port Richey on Friday after multiple depressions opened in a neighborhood at 7425 Neva Lane.

Fire officials are concerned the depressions could continue to grow in the Gulf Highlands subdivision. Authorities planned to stay there overnight to monitor the holes.

“We can’t tell when they’re going to stop,” Pasco County Fire Rescue Chief Andrew Fossa.

2. A giant sinkhole swallows a truck in Palolo, Hawaii

As of 8:30 a.m., the truck was still submerged in the sinkhole. However, no injuries have been reported.

Nine sinkholes, with some reaching 70-meters in depth, have emerged over the past three months in the town. Although they were not in residential areas, locals live in fear that a massive sinkhole could devour buildings.
