At the beginning of the austral winter, I wrote an article about the huge quantities of snow falling over Patagonia in Argentina. There was so much snow in the first few days of their winter, that animals were buried alive:

Now, Argentinian farmers are counting their losses. According to first official estimates, the heavy snowstorms and frosts in the high areas of the Argentine Patagonia Rio Negro province could have caused the death of 70% of the flock.

Of course we still have to wait until October to have more accurate numbers… But we are talking of at least 100,000 sheep and 5,000 cattle DEAD.

The victims of the intense snow fall followed by frosts are mostly small farmers, with flocks no larger than 250 head… And that’s a serious survival challenge.

We estimate that the worse losses are along the mountainous terrain between 1,000 and 1,300 meters above sea level, while at sea level we can expect sheep mortality in the range of 30%.”

These small farmers require an extraordinary economic aid… Otherwise they will die or go bankrupt. Another agriculture emergency caused by apocalyptic climatic conditions.

  1. Well weather patterns are extremely out of balance. We see floods in Florida and Texas and near by states. Sink holes are keep popping around globe as well. Basically mother earth is in a big distress.
