DID YOU SEE IT?
A strange flash of light has been spotted and reported by many in South Florida Monday night…
WOAH! Big flash and streak across sky in West Palm Beach. Happened moments ago while we were on Facebook Live for a @CBS12 story.

It was likely a chunk of an asteroid known as 2021 GW4.
The space rock, roughly the size of a car, about 14 feet, was scheduled to make an “extremely close approach” with an amazing speed of 16,000 mph.
“To put this in perspective, most close-approach asteroids are between 1 and 3 millions miles from earth. Earth’s atmosphere runs roughly 6,200 miles up,” Covey said. “It’s possible that this asteroid survived a brush by and didn’t break up upon close entry.”
According to Close-Approach Data, the asteroid that passed by Earth that was visible in South Florida was traveling roughly 16,000 mph. @CBS12 @jayobtv pic.twitter.com/ooRf4TwAow
