A montain climber – Neil Wiltshire – shot a live video of the rock avalanche that occured on the 21st of January 2013 on Mount Dixon in Aoraki Mount Cook, New Zealand. This video is the property of 3News NZ and they do not allow to embed it without buying it (Bad!). You can view it:
Look at it carefuly and you will observe a transition between a turbulent rock avalanche generating a huge amount of dust to a mass gliding on the ice with almost no apparent internal deformation.
