A giant fireball swept through the sky of the Spanish peninsula today, Sunday September 9, 2014.
Reports were received from at least eight places: Catalonia, Valencia, Andalusia, Aragón, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Madrid and Extremadura.
The webcam from MeteoBlanes has captured the amazing moment the fireball crossed the sky of Girona and have posted an image of the bright meteor on their Twitter account.
This meteor of unknown origin was also illuminated the sky over Barcelona at around 6:55am as reported by the Meteorological Agency (AEMET) in Catalonia.
According to witnesses, the meteor struck the sky during a few seconds, and left a long trail of smoke before disintegrating.
This giant fireball crossed the sky just the day that the 2014 RC asteroid will buzz the Earth.
