Lifeguard spotted massive fish off Shell Beach in La Jolla, California.
And the fish ended up being an oarfish.
The body of the 10-foot long oarfish was found floating in the water. The cause of its death is under investigation. This type of fish is normally living in deep waters… So it is still a mystery how it ended up off Shell Beach.
Natural death? Or linked to the earthquakes that rattled the Gulf of Catalina 2 weeks ago. Maybe because the fish doesn’t look fresh at all.
Another deep-sea oarfish was found dead end of June 2015 on Catalina Island, California.
