This must be an incredible nature spectacle to see.
Imagine millions of crabs simultaneously marching to the sea on Christmas Island.
During this weeks-long event, up to 14 species of crabs migrate from the rainforest to the ocean to breed. And during this move, the crabs turn completely red.
Their migration takes place between October and December as the crabs rely on certain phases of the moon to help with the reproductive process.
The wet season acts as a signal for the crabs to head toward the coast.
But this year, the crabs are a bit delayed because of the late rains.
Some of the crabs will travel 5, 6, 7 kilometers during their dangerous trek.
Roads close when the crabs begin to travel along the streets.
But now, officials have installed street bridges to better cope with this incredible animal behavior.
Here a video of the Hermit crab migration. Also impressive.
