A bright fireball was reported by hundreds across Finland from Tampere, Lahti, Porvoo, Helsinki and Turku on January 23, 2016.
And many also heard the loud boom associated to its explosion as the space rock entered Earth’s atmosphere.
More than 300 people reported the a white falling fireball on the website of the astronomy magazine Tähdet ja avaruus.
It has been described by witnesses as one of the largest ball of fire ever seen. The sky event only last a few seconds. And a few minutes after, a loud boom was heard.

As described by Sanni Turunen who was driving his car: “The sky broke out in a bright greenish tone for a period of about 4 seconds. I stopped the car and after a few minutes I heard a thunder-like sound for about 10 seconds …”
