The Popocatepetl volcano has entered a phase of increasing volcanic activity.
After 9 explosions on September 28, 2017, the Popocatepetl volcano erupted again 6 times on Sept. 29th and 3 times on Sept. 30th.
In this video we clearly hear the sound of the erupting volcano:
The following chart shows the current very active volcanic phase of the Popocatepetl volcano, with 18 explosions in the last 3 days:
The largest explosion occurred at 22:57 pm and ejected incandescent fragments 0.8 km away on the flanks of the volcano. Ash and gas were sent higher than 2 km in the air. Here a video the explosion captured on September 30 by cameras of CENAPRED:
The seismic activity decrased dramatically between Sept. 29th (191 minutes of tremors) and Sept 30th (41 minutes of tremors).
Officials say there is no direct link between the M7.1 earthquake registered on September 19 with epicenter in the state of Puebla and the current enhanced activity of Popocatepetl. I doubt about that. What do you think?
