Let the games begin…
A powerful cold front will arrive with gusty winds on Thursday night and usher in an Arctic blast for Friday and Saturday with the lowest temperatures of the season so far.

An arctic blast will slide across parts of the Midwest and Northeast into the weekend, with many cities in the Midwest and Northeast seeing their coldest temperatures so far this season and daily record lows threatened in some cities.

Behind the arctic front, areas of heavy lake-effect snow are expected for a time in the northern Great Lakes.

An overall upper-atmosphere pattern with “high-latitude blocking” is looking increasingly likely for later this month and that could result in more cold air outbreaks for the Mid-Atlantic region by the time Thanksgiving week rolls around.
