Over 130 black-headed gulls were found dead along Ptuj Lake last weekend and another couple of dozen dead birds were found there this week. While bird flue has been ruled out, the cause of the kill is yet to be determined. Experts suspect poisoning and have urged the authorities to find the source as soon as possible to prevent further harm.
Birds mysteriously falling from the sky have been recently reported in India, USA, Canada, Italy, Mexico, Sweden.
