A highway was brought to standstill after a sudden and violent hail storm destroyed the windshields of hundreds of cars driving between Fidenza and Firenzuola, Italy.

As shown in the videos cars and trucks are stopped. Their windshields are destroyed. Everybody is shocked.

The terrible hail hit around 4.10 pm local time between Parma and Fiorenzuola. The A1 highway was closed down for a few hours to facilitate the intervention of emergency vehicles.

The severe thunderstorm was accompanied by powerful winds that caused extensive damage and several injuries in the provinces of Reggio Emilia e Modena.

In Fidenza, the winds were so strong that roofs were blown away.

The large ice bombs damaged the fields of tomatoes, watermelons, melons, corn, pears, beets, pumpkins and potatoes from Piacenza to Ferrara (Emilia-Romagna). Officials have already reported millions of euros of damage across the provinces of Parma, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Bologna and Ferrara.

This apocalyptic hailstorm adds some more pressure on the food industry, farming and of our food reserves. [Italy News]

  1. Not good for the crops. People get pissed off when prices are high, and food is scarce.

When I went to Italy, I loved it. Rome was great. People are friendly, and not snobby. Hang out in the grotto, drink expresso. Have some Carpacio, and watch stand up comedy routines. Tivoli Gardens and Hadrian’s Villa were a good tour. Milano is businessman area.
All the police have uzi, and smart looking uniforms. Everybody was very welcoming, and the food is awesome! I’d revisit Italy without hesitation.
