With more than 40 volcanoes showing signs of unrest around the world, you probably want to know which were the latest to blow. Here’s a summary of the latest major volcanic explosions around the world in pictures and videos…

At least 7 pyroclastic flows at Merapi volcano in Indonesia

A huge eruption at Merapi volcano triggered at least 7 pyroclastic flows starting at 21:58 UTC on August 7, 2021 that descended down its slopes up to 3 km (1.8 miles).

While the ash plume rose up to 3.6 km (12 000 feet) above sea level, the Aviation Color Code remained at Orange. Ashfalls were reported in surrounding villages and towns.

The lava dome has been growing rapidly during the last few weeks before partially collapsing during this eruption.

The eerie sound of the eruption was reported several kilometers away from the volcano.

The last major eruption of Merapi volcano took place in 2010 and killed 347 people.

Possible underwater eruption in Iceland

Iceland really seems to be on roll now.

The patrol ship Þór has been sent to investigate whether an eruption has started underwater, west of Krísuvíkurberg after bubbles were reported at the surface of the ocean.

First investigations show there is no sign of eruption.

So what did burble up? Natural gas release? Limnic eruption (assuming those can happen in non-lake environments)? Methane hydrate?

This reminds me of the Bay of Naples “bubbles” of a few years ago that everybody flipped out about.

Campli Flegrei M2.2 earthquake

On August 6, a M2.2 earthquake followed by a series of small aftershocks hit at a depth of 4 kilometers and were distinctly felt throughout the area, from Pozzuoli to Bacoli.

This isn’t something to worry about right now. I assume that if there is something going on with the Campi Flegrei, then there will surely be signs.

But remember, everything can go pretty fast…

Popocatepetl explosion in Mexico

The Popocatepetl volcano erupted strongly on August 6, at 9:37 p.m. during bad weather.

Incandescent fragments were observed at short distance of the crater.

And two strange flying objects were spotted a day later!

To finish, here’s an interesting look at interiors of a lava tube skylight, a lava depression, and of course the crater itself at Fagradalsfjall, Iceland.

I hope you enjoyed this round-up. Stay tuned for more volcanic and Earth Change news.

    • I guess cuhomo resigned. Give people time to forget the crimes he will never be prosecuted for—except God has the final say in those matters.

Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord.

That means God will handle handing out his wrath appropriately. I trust his Judgement.
