The world’s largest solar plant just turned on (February 13 2014). It is situated in the Mojave Desert and looks amazing!
While the south and the east of the USA and the UK got battered with a winter storm yesterday, the sun beamed down on California, and the world’s largest solar plant turned on — for the first time ever — to take it in.
The plant, called Ivanpah, can produce up to 392 megawatts of power, enough to power 140,000 homes, making it responsible for nearly 30 percent of all solar power in the United States.
Ivanpah covers nearly 5.5 square miles in the Mojave Desert, and has 173,500 panels.
