OMG! Eleven injured and more feared trapped after Manhattan apartment building explodes in suspected gas leak.
At around 9 AM this morning, an apartment building on 116th and Park Avenue in East Harlem burst into flames. The building suspected of causing the explosion is at 1644-1646 Park Ave and houses a Spanish Christian Church on the first floor. At least five fire engines are on the scene battling the flames. Emergency responders have rescued one survivor from the five-story building so far and eleven have been taken to local hospitals. One witness reported seeing residents in the building flying out when the blast hit. Here is a video:
