A weird light has been reported by plenty of Hawaiians and photographed by at least two of them. Officials haven’t published a known source yet. But I have my little idea of what’s behind this strange sky phenomenon!
Yes, of course, witnessing such a zigzaging light in the sky over your head must be kind of baffling. But I can tell you, it’s not an UFO!
Although the NAVY declines any operations at the time of the sighting, I am pretty sure that this light and the following weird cloud pattern left over Hawaii is linked to the exhaust of a missile launched from a close or a distant firing range as shown in the fifth image of this cloud atlas. Compare the two shapes, they are almost identical.
According to Daily News, Russia has conducted a test-launch of ballistic missile at almost the same time. Hawaii News Now explains the light first started off really bright and then cut into a zigzag pattern (a missile match), but tried to link the phenomenon to meteor activity (wrong I think!). Finally, the Washington Post refers to a missile launch planned this week from the Aegis Ashore site at the Pacific Missile Range Facility without giving shedule information. So there were a lot of possibilities and we still have to determine which missile it was! IT WAS AN AEGIS’s MISSILE.
Maybe it’s this thing!

I’ve been tracking these for a while now. Very probably another meteor fireball that burned up high in the atmosphere, where winds at different layers mix it into that snake-like formation:

Not sure if the location makes sense, but I found this interesting and *possibly* related. However, I think it says the missile launch was/is to take place on Kauai…we wouldn’t see these trails if it was there, right?
This is maybe related if it occurred yesterday, May 20, 2014… Thank you! The ballistic missile launch I am refering in the article, occured just before the sighting… I believe you, in Hawaii, have experienced the Russian missile, but this without 100% certainty. I don’t know if we would see these trails. I will also add your link to the article.
Thank you,
MP
You were right! http://missilethreat.com/standard-missile-completes-first-test-launch-from-aegis-ashore-test-site/… I corrected the article… Sorry!
