Gentoo penguins are not only known for being the fastest underwater swimming bird in the world. They also emit a weird and distinctive noise. These birds trumpet a donkey-like sound. This strange calls are called an “estatic display”.

- Curious and outgoing

- Gentoos are the fastest underwater swimming bird in the world and can reach up to 36 kilometres per hour.
- Regulate their own heart rate. During deep dives, Gentoo penguins can reduce their heart rate from 80 – 100 beats per minute down to as low as 20 beats per minute to save energy.
