These mammatus clouds spotted over Indianola, Iowa were also part of this insane storm. They indicate atmospheric turbulence.

Des Moines got baseball and even softball sized hail. I live 2 hours from Des Moines and it was barely even mentioned on my local news. It just shows how they segregate news between areas.

See that blue-green color. That’s the color I was describing for when to expect hailstones.
Tornados also have weird colors like that, and shapes in the clouds. Sometimes orange, green, and grey.
