Strange booms and shaking in Fauquier County, Virginia related to US army trainings – February 13 2013

US Marines trainings are expected to produce loud explosion sounds at Quantico Marine Corps Base, Virginia. These sounds may be heard in a perimeter of 50 miles around the base certainly in the near Fauquier county and other spots in Virginia and close states. They have already begun yesterday without any notices. This resulted in residents worrying about loud booming noises rattling windows and houses late Tuesday morning (February 12 2013).

Below you will find the schedule for munitions training for the rest of the week at the base. Moreover during the whole month of february 2013 pile driving work outside the facility (95 Express Lanes Project) will be undertaken.


Tuesday – Feb. 12. Range Clearance Operations are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Wednesday – Feb 13. Explosive Munitions Operations are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Thursday – Feb. 14. Explosive Munitions Operations are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m

Friday – Feb 15. Range Clearance Operations are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday – Feb. 16. Range Clearance Operations are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition, the I-95 expansion project will be conducting pile driving operations Monday through Saturday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. during the month of February.
